Talk Money Week
Talk Money Week which runs from 2nd – 6th November aims to quash the idea that talking about money is taboo and encourages us to get the conversation started.
This year’s theme for the annual awareness campaign led by the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) is “It All Counts”. The focus is on taking small manageable steps towards feeling more confident about our finances, be that having an informal chat with someone we trust or seeking out professional advice about something that impacts us financially.
By implementing a few realistic actions, Talk Money Week shows we can reap the rewards of having open conversations. Talking about money can help us move towards a better financial future by:
- Helping us feel confident and informed to reach out for support when we have financial concerns
- Reducing our anxiety or worries about money matters
- Helping us avoid risky or spontaneous decisions
- Having a positive longer-term impact on society by improving financial education and awareness amongst younger generations
- Improving our interpersonal relationships if we feel supported or can support others
With this in mind, NESPF is encouraging you to take time to consider your pension this week. Whether that is striking up a conversation about pensions with a loved one, logging in to your personalised pension portal My Pension+ or contacting the Fund about a query you might have had for a while, engaging and talking about your pension can stand you in good stead for the future.
