My Pension+: An Update

The North East Scotland Pension Fund (NESPF) recognises the ability that modern, digital technology has to make pensions information accessible. This is why the NESPF encourages its members to utilise the My Pension+ portal and take control of their pension.

Since its inception in 2023, the secure, online portal has undergone a vast amount of development. As a frontrunner in the initiation of My Pension+, the NESPF has worked closely with developers to test and implement advanced technology, allowing members to directly engage with their pension.

Features of My Pension+

With My Pension+, members can:

  • Update contact details
  • Use calculators to perform pension estimates
  • Amend death grant nominations
  • Access scheme and member documents
  • Send information to the Fund electronically
  • View annual benefit statements
  • Access P60s & payslips (pensioner members)
  • Update bank details (pensioner members)

A new development which has recently been implemented has been online retirement forms. This means active members (those paying into the scheme) and deferred members (those with their pension on hold) approaching retirement can now use My Pension+ to begin processing their retirement.

At present, exceptions may apply to which members can use this depending on their pension, however the intention is that this will eventually be rolled out to all members (subject to functionality).

Communication Tool

Going forward, My Pension+ will continue to undergo further development to ensure the site remains up-to-date. My Pension+ will also continue to be used as a primary communication tool due to its ability to allow the Fund to communicate directly with members.

All members registered for My Pension+ can update their “Communication Preferences” through the portal and can elect to receive either mainly digital or paper-based communications.
