Talk Money Week
This week sees Talk Money Week return from 3rd – 7th November 2025. Talk Money Week is a yearly campaign designed to encourage us to break down barriers and start open conversations about money.
The initiative is urging us to talk about all aspects of money amongst our friends, family, workplaces and wider communities to move away from the idea that money isn’t a comfortable topic of conversation.
2025's theme is 'Start the conversation' and encourages us to take the first step of raising the topic of finances to others. This could look like a chat about budgeting with a friend or introducing younger family members to the concept of saving.
Incorporating these conversations into our lives can help move away from the stigma that surrounds discussions about money. This can ensure we feel confident and informed to reach out for support when we have financial concerns and help us avoid risky or spontaneous decisions. Encouraging open conversation about money can also have a positive longer-term impact on society, improving financial education and awareness amongst younger generations.
As part of Talk Money Week, the North East Scotland Pension Fund (NESPF) is encouraging you to take on a Pension MOT.
A good starting point for this is to set up your My Pension+ account and get to know your pension pot. By doing this you can use our secure member portal to perform a range of functions including checking your contact details, updating death grant nominations and using the retirement planning tool to see if you’re on track for the pension you desire. With My Pension+ you can also view previous pension statements, and once you start receiving your NESPF pension, view P60s and payslips.
If you are already familiar with My Pension+, our website can be a helpful tool and resource. Our website contains specific areas dedicated to active, deferred and pensioner members which host a wealth of information about your pension. You can also contact us if you have any queries or questions about your NESPF pension.
If you require expert advice on other money related matters, MoneyHelper can offer free, impartial help for money and pensions that’s quick to find, easy to use and backed by government. For more information click here.
